Following the planning meeting, and subsequent site visit, Birmingham City Council have made the right decision and reject the planning application to replace the Flapper with flats.
Whilst this is obviously fantastic news, and what we have been campaigning for, it is not over yet. The developers who own the building still want to close the pub in January. We must continue our efforts to do everything we can to ensure this does not happen. The Flapper should stay open as it remains a viable business and invaluable to both the Birmingham music scene and the local community.
We have won the battle, but not yet the war.
